The colossal Red Fort in Delhi was the home of the formidable Mughal emperors for around 200 years until the British took over it in 1857. The fort is not just a symbol of the popular grandeur of the Mughal era, but it has withstand the trials of turbulent times, especially during India’s most historical events that shaped the foundation of the country. This is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the national capital. The UNESCO declared the Red Fort a World Heritage Site in 2007, in recognition of its significance. Red Fort is one of the most celebrated monuments of India and is the symbol of valour and peace.
This 17th century monument is of octagonal shape and it covers around 255 acres of land. The total number of gates here is three. The royals used to enter the fort through the Khizrabad Gate that has been closed for commoners now. The Lahore and Delhi Gates are open to locals and tourists. The fort was planned to house a palace inside its campus. The Red Fort still a historical and architectural wonder.
The Lotus Temple (also known as Kamal Mandir) in Delhi is a matchless architectural marvel and one of the prime tourist attractions of the National Capital. Shaped in the form of a spectacular lotus with white petals, it makes for a break-taking sight and attracts countless visitors throughout the year. Unlike most other places of worship, this temple or Bahai House of Worship does not allow ritualistic ceremonies and has no fixed pattern to conduct worship.
The Qutub Minar is a brick minaret built in 1193 by Muslim conquerors of Delhi. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Delhi’s most visited tourist attractions. At 240 feet (73 meters) high, it’s also an impressive engineering feat—all the more notable for surviving for so many centuries.

ARRIVAL IN KASOL NIGHT STAY AT CAMP
Kasol is famous for its trekking trails, which include treks to Kheerganga, Yanker Pass, Sar Pass, and Pin Parbati Pass. To get a real feel of the culture in this region, go on a visit to the village of Malana. Located a few kilometres away from Kasol, Malana is a tiny hamlet inhabited by people living in self-imposed isolation. The people of Malana claim themselves to be Aryan descendants, as a result of which they avoid interaction with outsiders. The village has plenty of scenic sights, though, and is often called ‘Little Greece’.
Kasol is inhabited by a huge number of people from Israel, which is discernible from the plenteously available Israeli food, and the street signposts inscribed in Hebrew. Kasol has quite a few streetside cafes which serve delicious food, and the experience of sitting and enjoying a meal amidst the dark green forests and the awe-inspiring mountains make the meal even more enjoyable.
Manikaran Sahib
Situated in the Parvathi valley, the place of worship welcomes you through a bridge right across the hot spring. The fluttering of the colorful flags hung from the Gurdwara and the prayer chants echoing from within is an unforgettable spiritual experience.
You would have to remove your shoes and cover your head to enter the prayer hall. In case you have no cloth to wrap your head, they’d themself provide you with a white piece of cloth. Walking barefoot into the carpeted hall and watching the guru recite prayers in front of the Guru Grant Sahib was spiritual in every sense. Wrapping up the prayer session, I instinctively walked downstairs to the Langar hall.
Hot Springs
If you were left mesmerized watching the hot springs flowing outside the Gurudwara, you’re in for more surprises. Setup in the form of a natural jacuzzi in the bath inside the Gurudwara. Not only are they radioactive but are also said to contain elements of sulfur which is refreshing and energizing.
And not to mention just how peaceful I felt being around the warmth of the water after walking around the snow for two days. From the cold, the switch to the hot temperature would take a while to be adjusted by your body.
Parvati river and Harinder mountains
The place is also perfect for a short adventurous trek. With their misty trails and towering stone structures amidst the forests.
Yet another interesting feature here is that many people have painted the rocks around here and blotted them with abstract forms of tribal art. Make sure you don’t miss out on the heavenly experience of taking a peaceful stroll around the sun-kissed river.
